The Parkinson's Appeal for Deep Brain Stimulation

Marjan JahanshahiProfessor Marjan Jahanshahi BSc., MPhil., PhD.
Dr Jahanshahi is the Clinical Neuropsychologist on the Deep Brain Stimulation Team.

She has worked at the Institute of Neurology and the National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery since 1988, where she is currently a Reader in Cognitive Neuroscience and the Head of the Cognitive-Motor Neuroscience Group.

She was educated at the University of London . She obtained a first class degree in Psychology from University College London in 1980. She then qualified as a Clinical Psychologist at the Institute of Psychiatry and the Maudsley Hospital , where she also completed her PhD under the supervision of the late Professor David Marsden, the renowned world authority on Parkinson's disease.

Dr Jahanshahi has international recognition for her research on the cognitive, motor and psychosocial aspects of Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders. Her research has been funded by the Medical Research Council, the Wellcome Trust, the National Institute of Health in the United States and the Parkinson's Disease Societ , UK.

She has published 80 full papers in peer-reviewed journals and many book chapters. She was the author of the highly acclaimed book " Living and coping with Parkinson's disease: A self-help guide for patients and their carers" which has also been published in the United States and translated and published in Spain.
